3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local storage
Your financial data, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device using SQLite. The App works 100% offline.
3.2 Cloud storage
If you create an account and have a Premium subscription, your data is synced with Google Cloud Firestore (a Firebase/Google Cloud service). Servers are located in the United States and follow Google Cloud Platform security standards.
3.3 Authentication
Account management is handled by Firebase Authentication. Your password is encrypted and we do not have access to it in plain text.
3.4 Payments
Subscriptions are processed directly by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not store payment data on our servers.
3.5 Financial data
The financial data you record in the App (accounts, transactions, cards) is information manually entered by you. The App does not access your real bank accounts, does not perform financial transactions, and does not connect to any financial institution.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- Firebase (Google): for authentication, cloud storage, and analytics.
- RevenueCat: for subscription management.
- Apple / Google: for payment processing in their respective stores.
- OpenRouter (openrouter.ai): for processing AI assistant queries (see section 4.1 below).
All mentioned third parties operate under their own privacy policies and security standards.
4.1 AI Assistant — Data Sharing with OpenRouter
The App offers an AI-powered financial assistant called “Mark.” When using this feature, the following data may be sent to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), a third-party AI model routing service:
- Financial data: account balances, transaction amounts, category names, transaction dates, recurrences, and financial projections — according to your privacy settings in the App.
- Descriptions and notes: transaction descriptions and personal notes — only if you enable these options in the privacy settings.
- Conversation messages: your questions and conversation history with the assistant.
User controls:
- Using the AI assistant requires your explicit consent before first use.
- You can choose exactly which data categories are shared through Mark’s privacy settings.
- You can revoke consent at any time in settings, which immediately stops all data sharing.
Third-party data retention:
- OpenRouter processes data in real time to generate responses and does not store your personal information after processing, as described in their privacy policy.
Custom provider:
- The App allows you to configure your own OpenRouter API key. In this case, data is sent directly to the provider under the terms you accepted when obtaining your key.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data at any time through the App.
- Correct your data by editing your accounts, transactions, and categories.
- Delete your data by removing individual records or using the “Delete all data” function in settings.
- Cancel your subscription at any time through your store settings (App Store or Google Play).
To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, visit the account deletion page or contact us at: capucholabs@gmail.com
6. Data Retention
- Local data: remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Cloud data: remains stored as long as your account exists. Upon requesting account deletion, all data will be removed within 30 days.
- Analytics data: is retained in aggregated and anonymous form according to Firebase Analytics policies.
7. Children’s Privacy
MarkFinance is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not intentionally collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. The “last updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
